A Political Sesame Street Is The Wrong Street

 

          Did you happen to hear this?

          Sesame Street is now ‘woke.’  Sesame Street introduces ‘puppets of color’ to talk about racism. 

          Do you know what I say to this?

          Why?

          Why in the hell are you doing this?  First of all, if you want to introduce puppets of color, that’s fine.  But why in the hell are you taking a classic show and putting that activist push on it?  Why?  What happened to ‘don’t fix it if it isn’t broken?’  Seriously, WHAT HAPPENED TO IT?

          For perspective, let me say this, I am Gen-X with a great memory.  I remember watching Sesame Street and I loved it.  It was entertaining, educational, and fun.  If you want to emphasize the ‘educational,’ the biggest lesson of this show was always getting along with others.  THEY TAUGHT THAT WITH MR. SNUFFLEUPAGUS.  Snuffy also showed us that everyone was cool in their own way and to TOP IT ALL OFF THAT CHARACTER SHOWED US ABOUT IMAGINATION. 

          If you want to get into the human aspect what about Maria and Luis? What about Gordon?   Do you remember them Gen-X?  The funny thing is- the characters on that show interconnected so well that I never thought about color and I know I’m not the only one.  However, we’re hearing that this show never addressed these issues before and to that I say, YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME.

          Whatever happened to just being a kid?  Whatever happened to kids having fun?  Thanks to your friendly (gag) activists you’re putting such a stress level on these kids that it’s going to backfire big time.  In the future, you’ll have more juvenile crime and possibly suicides as well.  Kids are resilient, sure, but there’s only so much a kid can take- MY GOD PEOPLE.  This has to stop, and you need to remember- KIDS ARE KIDS.

          Sesame Street will see it’s ratings decline- just watch.  This show is shell of itself and a political Sesame Street is not a good one.
