Words and Phrases I'm Sick Of
1. Clapped
Back: When you see that in a so-called
news article, doesn’t it bring to mind a bunch of whiney, high school teenaged
girls in a catfight?
2. Rising
Star: Political pundits are really in
love with this phrase. Supposedly, AOC
is a rising star. The governor of New
Mexico, (who closed grocery stores), is a rising store, blah, blah, blah. It’s the same in the republican party
too. Everyone is a rising star and
somebody needs to tell me if we have so many ‘rising stars’ then why in the
world don’t the politicians do anything in Washington?
3. Rest
in Power: That’s the key online phrase
when a celebrity dies. Whatever happened
to just ‘rest in peace?’
4. Tweeting:
Every single written news story has this word. Why?
There was a world before Twitter America.
5. Destroys: Why is this word in every single news
story? Destroys means ruination or
demolishing, not catfighting on Twitter.
6. Lockdown: Lockdown makes me think of prisons. Lockdowns also seem to be the perfect excuse
for politicians to pass the buck.
7. Person
of Color: Get one thing straight, I find many minorities better friends and more
interesting to talk to than a lot of white people. However, what in the world happened to the
term ‘minority?’
8. Climate Emergency: Yes, I believe in climate change but say it
so you get the public’s attention ‘the environment is screwed up.’
9. White
Privilege: I, a white woman, had a 55
pound tumor taken out of me so shove your ‘white privilege.’
10. ‘Karen:’
In the history of stupid comments, this takes it. Swearing is a almost common in mainstream
society anyway, just call the woman a bitch and be done with it.
