Eddie Van Halen Proves Generation-X Has a Problem
Generation-X
you suck. Seriously, you suck.
As all of you know, Eddie Van Halen
died yesterday. Eddie was the perfect
symbol of Generation-X because of the 1984 album. As a kid, this was the first metal album that
I owned, and I know I wasn’t alone. Van
Halen wasn’t just a metal band- it was a happy-go-lucky band. Anyone that listened to it actually felt good
and the 1984 album opened up the hard rock/heavy metal doors to a lot of
Generation-X.
Here’s my problem though with the
death of the guitar legend, Eddie Van Halen, the generation that should be
mourning him the most reacted to his death by giving a gasp, feeling a little
sad, listening to a Van Halen cd and moving on.
Moving on- are you kidding me?
Eddie didn’t even trend on Twitter for 24 hours.
See, I really don’t understand what
happened to my generation. We all seem
like that we’re content just because we have a cell phone or a laptop. The fact that a legend is gone doesn’t seem
to make an impact because for some reason- FOR SOME REASON- Generation-X is
more obsessed with fitting in than standing up for what they believe in.
I’m baffled at what happened to the ‘take
no shit-turn up the heavy metal’ generation.
Generation-X should still have Eddie Van Halen trending on Twitter but
no, it seems like that Eddie is a part of time that people want to forget about
for some odd reason.
Generation-X, with a few exceptions, proves
that they their entire lives are just centered around being online. Generation-X was supposed to be the group
that led, not followed. They were
supposed to remind you of the greatness of Eddie Van Halen does not shrug him
off because Twitter got bored. Thanks to
the indifference that Generation-X seems to have about every single social
issue, Eddie on really didn’t get the tributes that he deserved on the
mainstream tv. Why? Because Generation-X figured that texting
someone was more important. In other
words, Generation-X turned into the leader of living lives behind a
screen.
Oh gee, I guess we advanced on
something after all.
