Sports Aren't Fun Anymore

A great radio personality said it best, “Sports aren’t fun anymore.”

He, meaning Mark Madden of 105.9 the X in Pittsburgh, makes his sports talk show interesting and funny.  The world would be happier if everyone would listen to this guy.  (For reference he’s on 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  Try him you might like him.)

But let’s take a minute and talk about sports.  All sports seem like they’re nothing but a continuous lecture and the fact that there are social justice sayings either on the floor or even hanging on a banner in the outfield.  If you turn on any game beforehand too, you’ll hear a speech about social justice from all angles.  As a matter of fact, most of the Kentucky Derby pre-show was a lecture about how wonderful all of the protesters were who were marching for Breonna Taylor.

The really bad thing is that no one involved from announcers to athletes really don’t care.  Fans are waking up though and you might have seen that viewership is down.  What needs to happen for people to really change?  Who knows if everyone turning off the tv would work but it’s worth a go?  Now, another key thing in this might be Twitter.

Twitter, as I’ve said over and over again, is the root of a lot of the bad atmosphere in this country and I don’t care what side you’re on.  Twitter gives athletes a chance to preach and it gives a lot of bored people the opportunity to freely pick on others who don’t think the same way that they do.  The key in all of this is to get away from the spell known as Twitter.  Twitter is an indoctrination guaranteed to make you want to type some smart-ass comment to anyone that rubs you the wrong way.  Twitter is also a nice way to distract people from real issues which gives the athletes and the entire sporting world an opportunity to tell you how bad you are and how wonderful they are.

If you want to make sports fun again, you do 2 things.  Obviously, turn off the tv and secondly, get off Twitter.  The more people get off Twitter and shrink the audience of the big mouthed athletes, the sooner they’ll go back to ‘sticking to sports.’  Think about it and pass it on…
