The Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame Hates Generation-X
There is no Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. There is no institution that honors rock 'n roll. There is no place honors an age group, specifically Generation-X.
I'm sure you heard who made the cut for the 2020 Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and let's get to the point. The three biggest snubs were:
1. Pat Benatar
2. Judas Priest
3. Motorhead
Obviously, we can get into a debate of who else isn't in there but let's save that for another day. Let's just repeat the snubs:
1. Pat Benatar
2. Judas Priest
3. Motorhead
All three of them should be in there already. Now, Motorhead is a given taste. Personally, I think they're cool musically and have that humorous air about them. When I hear 'Ace of Spades' I get a smile on my face and I'm sure I'm not the only one in the world that feels this way but I digress. Judas Priest, my god, the fact that they're not in there is despicable already. The late '70s and '80s was all about heavy metal. Judas Priest was the top tier of this- it was the music of a generation (Generation-X). It was just one of the band that not only played hard but gave you a story. It thrilled you with their concert performances and it also gave you an identity. If you were a kid in the '80s and listened to Judas Priest you were deemed as wild and embraced every second of it.
Finally, we get to Pat Benatar. Just stop and think about this- Pat Benatar isn't in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Pat Benatar has been snubbed for the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Madonna is in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame but not Pat Benatar. What's the big deal? Well, let me put it to you this way:
If you are Generation-X, (or if you prefer 'a kid in the '80s), Pat Benatar was one of the singers that introduced you to music. Her songs had something for everybody and kept you entertained no matter what the mood. Personally, her videos are some of the first that I can remember. Anyone who grew-up in the '80s has a soft spot for Pat Benatar, even if you are a full metalhead.
With all of that being said, you can analyze this as much as you want. You can also safely assume that the so-called Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame is about pushing an agenda. There is an underlying message here, the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame acts like Generation-X doesn't exist and my question is how long will we stand for it?
