The Trouble With AOC As Your Champion
If I had, recently, lost my food stamps due to Trump's 'new rule.' I am literally shuddering at AOC's intent criticism of the policy especially with her insistence that her family 'would've starved' if they wouldn't have had them. Why? Well, consider this...
People don't really seem to be paying attention to the high price of food lately due to the fact that they live day to day on their bank cards. Many applauded this move by Trump and figured that every food stamp recipient is a 'waste,' 'bum,' etc. Since many people don't have any rational thought anymore it doesn't matter to them that the so-called welfare bums will find away to get around the system anyway and that a lot of worthy recipients of food stamps will probably be cut off. Many people seem to be devoid of compassion anymore and the concept of 'helping your fellow man' seems to have disappeared.
And that brings us to AOC...
AOC, as you know, has an opinion on everything and my god why not? She's AOC, a minority female- YOU CAN'T QUESTION HER or CRITICIZE HER, not a chance. This is the next democratic nominee for president in 4-8 years. Anyway, naturally, she came out and 'blasted' the Trump's administration's decision. Sure, may be genuinely disgusted but who really knows for sure? But consider what she said:
Instead of putting out a valid argument on why this is a bad idea, she turned it around and made this all about her. According to AOC, her family was on food stamps around the death of her father. Really? To tell you the truth, unless I have a piece of paper that says is officially, I don't believe it. Why? Consider her story...
Her family moved to Yorktown Heights and her father was an architect. What happened to all of his money? Architects aren't paid like Walmart workers. If I remember correctly, she went to Boston University- if her family was in such dire need why didn't she go to community college in New York and work to help her mother. Look, people, I can sit here and list arguments to her rants every day but here's the thing about people:
People, despite their faults of being to dependent on technology, aren't stupid. As much as the media tries to convince you otherwise, most of us know that you have to have a background of privilege to get into government. The last thing a family wants to here is a spoiled women making their troubles a part of her personal story. Do you want to know how else you can tell AOC's rage against food stamp cuts was a farce?
She already moved on.
Don't put to much faith in AOC as some kind of champion. She'll sell you out in a second to move ahead.
