The Staying Power of Betsy DeVos
Don't feel sorry for Betsy DeVos.
She's a rich, privileged woman in a position that she is still UNQUALIFIED for, she's still head of the Department of Education. She might be hurting now because of Trump overruling her decision to defund the Special Olympics but this woman isn't going anywhere. She's like a kid enjoying a new game. She's having too much fun to stamp her feet and storm off home.
Beware though, beware of Betsy DeVos.
The democratic party is untrustworthy when it comes to education. A lot of the talk out of both sides of their mouths Beto O'Rourke and Cory Booker come to mind. What I fear is that an extremely rich woman will use her money to stay in that position if a specific democrat is elected president. Let me remind all off you that President Obama's Secretary of Education (Duncan) was a proponent of school choice. Why does it matter? Obama's influence is all over the democratic party. They don't want to move ahead because THEY WANT TO PROTECT ASPECTS OF HIS LEGACY.
So, what does that mean?
Say Joe Biden is the nominee and he happens to beat Donald Trump. How do I know that the person who called Mike Pence a 'good guy' won't feel that Betsy DeVos is a 'good woman' who deserves a chance to stay in that position? The answer is- you don't know. Biden, like many politicians, talk out of both sides of their mouths. In the end- remember this-
If you're a democrat and still haven't made up your mind who to support and despise DeVos, keep her in the back of your mind. Be careful what you wish for democrats- who you support might have DeVos sticking around for a long time.
