The Selfishness of the Democrats Regarding the Green New Deal
Let's state the obvious...
There are A LOT OF ISSUES involving the environment that are troubling. There is A LOT OF PROBLEMS that need to be solved now *snaps fingers.* There are a lot of Americans (white, black, etc.) dying because of polluted air and water. Regulations aren't being followed and corporations are doing pretty much whatever they want involving destroying whatever they can to make a buck. You know it and I know it.
The 'environment' is an issue for all of us- we should all be fighting it no matter what the skin color and no matter where we're from. What's my point? Well, I'm going to repeat it and I'll keep repeating it.
The democrats, as a whole, have taken an issue and turned it into a joke. Yeah, America, you've heard that correctly. They turned it into a joke. Why? The AOC factor, that's why. Representative Ocasio-Cortez has taken an issue and has literally made it into a racial issue. Yeah America- LISTEN TO HER CLOSELY- she has no concept on what all Americans need to help make the environment better. She has made this a 'ME' issue along with a racial issue. Yes, it's easy to feel for minority communities suffering because of corporations but AOC's idea that it's only them literally disgusts me and I think many of you know that- why? Well, let's state it again:
I come from an area that not only had to put up with power plant emissions but Halliburton having a field day dumping into every waterway in the area. Politicians (on both sides) forget that there's more to PA than Philadelphia and the occasional trip to Pittsburgh. There are counties in this state hurting because of impacts of power plants and Halliburton. Republicans won't pay attention because they know they'd be hammered for it- democrats don't care because it would take too much work to fix the problem. Pandering is much easier. A lot of people I went to high school with are being struck with cancer and so far, I've been lucky. However, there's always that nagging fear. What's the overall point?
The Green New Deal should've been a collaborative effort. The democrats had no right to throw it into the hands of a 29-year-old big mouth from New York City who knows NOTHING. As someone who knows about too many people getting sick, I find it insulting that they deemed her the savior and as a member of the democratic party-I seethe that they turn up their noses at people who are really hurting just to please the ego of a 29-year-old, privileged, vain, woman from New York City.
