Juneteenth: Coming to a Theater Near You
So, Juneteenth is going to become a reality. Okay- here's my question: why?
Seriously, why?
You've heard the backstory about this event and I can see it being a holiday in Texas. Why wouldn't it be? It makes perfect sense but to take an event that happened in one state and make it a national holiday is laughable- did you hear that? It's laughable. Why? Well, consider this-
Americans don't like history. As a matter of fact there are many out there that are spitting on American history right now. We've heard so many lies about the Civil War in the past year that I cannot believe they haven't banned the 'North and South' mini-series from the 1980s yet. However, what's amazing about those who are promoting Juneteenth is the fact that this is the only thing they (meaning those power) want you to only think about something like Juneteenth.
It's confusing but understand this- no one is promoting slavery here or saying slavery was good. No person should be a slave. However, what's done is done. To gloss over the Civil War and twist it it to make it suit a narrative on Twitter just to promote a 'holiday' that further turns people against each other is flat-out wrong. Juneteenth is a way to make a lot of people money and having it as a federal holiday is, plainly, a stupid idea.
